Mary Louise is well known in the community as a retired
Public School Teacher. Now she has taught at a number of
Quilt Shops and has many people who can thank her for
teaching them to quilt!
We are pleased to have her share here quilts in our one
woman show!

She will be teaching two workshops on Thursday May 1
and Friday May 2.

Judith will present the lecture "Crazy Quilt History" on May 3, 2008.
The lecture is open to the public and the cost is $12 in advance.
The Victorian era was an exciting and interesting time. Crazy quilts
are documents of history. Every scrap of fabric had a story to tell. A
presentation of antique Crazy Quilt slides and details showing
embellishments and techniques will be shared. Judith will present
samples of her work.
Lecture tickets are still available.

C. VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS STOCKING6 HOURS  May 1, 2008  9:00am to 5:00pm        
Make a treasured heirloom with Victorian crazy quilting, embroidery, and embellishments.
The Christmas stocking is a generous size and can well underway in a day. Using machine
crazy quilting in the morning ... the afternoon is devoted to embellishment and assembly.

      SUPPLIES (Please refer to the basic supplies list also.)        
             • Sewing machine• 4mm silk ribbon, 4 greens, 10  flower colours• Beads, Nymo
thread• Laces, hankies & doilies• Sheet of template plastic  (large) • 12 fancy fabrics prints,
solids,  textures)• 1/2 yards cotton lining• 1/2 yards cotton flannel• 1/2 yard muslin        • 1/2
yards velvet or moiré backing• Trims, braids• 8" velvet cording• Embroidery-floss or silk  
metallics, variegates preferred.• Buttons, doo dads• Variety: ribbons- sheers, Satin,
wire                



A. THOSE LITTLE EXTRAS 6 HOURS   May 2, 2008  9:00am to 5:00pm        
Create a 10” x12” floral sampler using various embroidery stitches, ribbon roses, satinleaves,
silk ribbon stitches and knotted stitches. Use buttons and beads to create flowers.Use
ruching techniques and add spider webs plus bows to finish off the piece. All
thesetechniques pertain to crazy quilting as well as clothing design and landscape design.

             • 12" sq. iron-on stiffener for back of black fabric.• Variety of 12 ribbons: satin,
sheer, wire edged,  1/4" to 1" wide• Nymo beading thread and beads• Big variety of needles•
Embroidery hoop is optional• 11" x 13" heavy black moiré, cotton velvet        • Variegated
threads, yarns • Variety embroidery threads, solids• White marking pencil• Variegated
metallics• Buttons, doodads • 4mm silk ribbon variety of colors variegates needed• Fresh
water pearls and crystals                
The Stocking class will be on May 1,2008 9:00am to 5:00pm.The Embellishment class will be
May 2, 2008 9:00am to 5:00pm.
If you take both classes you can continue work on the stocking on the second day instead of
working on black fabric.



This basic supply list is what I think all students should always bring to any needlework or
quilting class, regardless of the actual class supply list. It is a good idea to keep these
supplies in a small container for convenience.
1.        Variety         of         needles        embroidery,         darning,         chenille,
#10 sharps beading, tapestry and crewel
2.        Paper         and         pencil         for         notes

3.        Washout         markers,         white         marking pencil; mechanical pencil

4.        Tacky         glue         and         glue         stick

5.        Measuring tape, see-through ruler, straight pins

6.        Paper         and         fabric         scissors

7.        Green embroidery thread and gray sewing thread

8.        Embroidery         hoop         (6")

9.            Art paper for sketches and patterns


Registration for these classes is open, only a few places remain.
Classes are $50 each.
